Fightin’ Fundamentalists in Forth Worth Wage Holy War

This may be perhaps the most outrageous, over-the-top “evangelism” video that I’ve ever seen from the fine fundamentalists at the Paige Patterson-led Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary just up the road in Fort Worth.

Introducing Taking the Hill (Watch the Video!)

The question begs though, is ownership of an assault rifle or concealed handgun license a prerequisite to “sharing the life-changing message of salvation with the people in your community”  ?  Perhaps Southern Baptists could add a line like that next-time they decide to revise their BFM creed.

ONWARD CHRISTIAN SOLDIERS!

Nothing like a militaristic message for spreading the gospel. Onward Christian Soldiers. Take that hill no matter what. You have your orders from the Man himself. If you die, you die for Him on the side of right. The only side. If they die, they deserve it, the heathens.

They could have left out the last clips, no, shots (every word I try sounds like a reference to a gun) of the civilian-looking guys with the guns.

Otherwise, it’s just an enlistment/promotion piece from the imagery in 2 Timothy 2:3. “Onward Christian Soldiers,” “I’m In the Lord’s Army,” do the same thing.

Did you ever sing either as a kid?

I seriously doubt there are 6,700 in Fort Worth, TX who have never heard the Gospel message. It’s Fort Worth, TX for crying out loud! It’s fine if people want to share the “good news”, but please don’t bother me in my home. Door to door evangelism is invasive…especially when the ones knocking on your door are men with guns. YIKES!

Brother BDW,

The fellas toting the guns in the backdrop are a bit much… but the Apostle Paul used similiar allusions with the Ephesians and Corinthians concerning armor and sports. That may have given SWBTS a little more confidence to do the same.

They did say they had door hangers and not hand granades. So, I would not get to excited.

Blessings,
Chris

Unfortunately, SWBTS seems to have ignored Article XVI of the Baptist Faith & Message. The SBC should delete that Article and include an “Oorah” after the Preamble.
