Fundamentalist Baptist Pastor Calls On Church to “Hate Obama”…Gays too

Move over Fred Phelps and Wiley Drake and meet Steven Anderson, a Baptist pastor from Arizona.

You may remember Anderson from this popular YouTube video.

In the video, Anderson observes that the phrase “Him that pisseth against the wall” is used six times in the King James version of the Bible.  Anderson asks what God means when He says thathe will destroy all those who “pisseth against the wall.”  From that observation, Anderson notes that it is now supposedly widely prohibited for a man to urinate standing up in toilets in Germany.  Anderson then concludes that what is wrong with the good ole U.S.A today is that men no longer know how to stand up and “piss like a man.”

A quote from the YouTube sensation:

And God says, “A man is someone who pisses against a wall.” … And you say, “Ah, you’re being vile.” I’m not being vile. God’s the one who wrote the Bible.

We got pastors that pee sitting down. We got the president of the United States who probably pees sitting down. … The editors of the NIV pee sitting down. The editors of the New King James all pee sitting down. I’m gonna tell you something. I will never pee sitting down.

Anderson is back again in the news with his recent sermon titled “Why I Hate Barack Obama.”

In that sermon, Anderson calls for the execution of gays, slurs Barney Frank, and tells his congregation that God wants them to “hate Obama” and declares that Obama deserves the death penalty too.

Nasty stuff.  You can read excerpts here.

  1. Whooee! This guy calls himself a pastor? Sounds more like a hater to me. It’s even sadder that his congregation would sit still and listen to such venom from the mouth of their preacher. It is even worse that his denomination condones such talk. I can’t imagine what my grandmother would say about such filth coming from the mouth of a supposedly religious man.

  2. KeepingitReal says:

The first thing that came to my mind when I heard this hog slop was the words of Jesus recorded in John 16: 2 which says “…the time will come that whosoever kills you will think they do God’s service.”

I suspect that Anderson thinks he is preaching something new, but this preaching is old, worn out and used up. A man named Caiaphas preached the exact same message against Jesus of Nazareth more than two thousand years ago (John 12: 48-53).

This is a slightly veiled suggestion that someone should kill the president for so-called “righteous” reasons. Religious fanaticism and racism usually go hand in hand.

Grow-up, dammit! You lost the election. Now do what the rest of the nation did when you put that moron in office for eight years: Live with it!

Why is it that whenever you people loose an election the first thing you do is go to taking the Bible out of context and reaching for your guns?

  3. Chris Johnson says:

The Carnival is back in business once again…

  4. Billy Edwards says:

Anderson is so far out there that it’s nearly unimagineable. God help him and his followers. They need a good dose of grace…make that a big dose of grace.

KeepingitReal…lots of hate coming from you, too. Bush a “moron”? There’s some love and grace. What makes you different from Anderson, outside of political views?

  5. Danny says:

I don’t know how you keep finding these guys

  6. bapticus hereticus says:

from an Anderson sermon: “A perfect example of the fact that Bible colleges are completely patterned after worldly institutions is their “Masters” degree program. In an effort to perfectly mirror worldly schools, Bible colleges will confer titles such as “Master of Divinity,” “Master of Education,” and “Master of Pastoral Theology” upon their graduates. This is a clear violation of the teaching of Jesus Christ that such titles are off limits and belong solely to him.”

    bapticus hereticus: wale sed.

  7. Aaron says:

    Oh gosh.

Did you see that the Assault-Rifle toting African-American gentleman at the Obama event is a member of Steven Anderson’s church.

  8. TPM Muckraker has the story that the guy who brought an automatic rifle to the Obama town hall had heard this nut job preach that Obama should die just the day before!

  9. Phunny says:

Sounds like he is picking up his jargon from Obama’s pastor, Jeremiah Wright??
