This is great news for Baylor, but lousy news for the world of New Testament scholarship. David's biblical work had slowed as Dean of Truett. As president of Baylor, will it become a trickle? Sigh.

I agree also. I know David Garland and have tremendous respect for him. He is second to none as a scholar and has great administrative and people skills. If the regents will just leave him alone for a year or two, maybe some progress can be made to bring the Baylor family back together. For the good of the university, I hope so.

Excellent choice!

Dr. Batson and the regents should be commended for their wisdom in the selection of the interim president. Dr. Garland will bring his unique gifts and skills to the task at hand. I believe he will make a huge difference in the days ahead to bring the Baylor family together around the same table.

David Lowrie
