Portrait of a Paranoid Fundamentalist: Paige Patterson

As reported by Southern Baptist blogger Art Rogers….

Paige Patterson was interviewed by the Criswell College radio station. In that interview he said that every 25 years the SBC has to throw out Liberals and that it was time to do it again. When asked if these men might be Conservatives who disagree with methodology, he replied that they were Liberals who knew not enough Baptist History to fill a thimble.

And a picture of PP meeting with another man who also throughout his career was accused of being paranoid, secretive, and manipulative…..Yasser Arafat.

  1. Michael L. Westmoreland-White says:

Is that first picture of Patterson killing one of God’s ENDANGERED CREATURES?? Why wasn’t he arrested for poaching? Why is this man out of jail??

  2. Dr. Danny Chisholm says:

I had not heard about that interview, I was wondering whom he might be referring to as the liberals in the convention nowadays. I didn’t think there were any liberals left, only kinder conservatives, primarily the young blogging crowd.

It will be interesting to see whether he still has the support to get it done.

  3. Big Daddy Weave says:

While “working” at the BU library today, I caught PP’s report on the status of SWBTS. The crowd loved him. Maybe it was b/c of the home crowd advantage. Or maybe because he’s still Paige Patterson and it’s still the SBC…

  4. texasinafrica says:

Danny, “liberals” seem to be defined as “anyone who disagrees with me” in Patterson’s book.

BDW, I’m thinking of getting together my sister and best friends and all of us enrolling in what is apprently actually going to be a degree in homemaking at SWBTS. What do you think?
